Financial Planning Description
Summary:
The Financial Planning Intern assists the members of the Wealth Strategy team by aiding in the financial planning process, providing administrative support, and demonstrating excellent project management skills. In this role, the intern will participate in financial planning analysis, including:
understanding the financial planning process, creating wealth assessments and plans utilizing financial planning software, and developing recommendations and solutions for clients. The intern will gain hands-on experience with clients by participating in client meetings with financial planners, as well as work on case studies for the purpose of creating comprehensive financial plans to be presented to the team. Throughout the internship, various financial planning concepts will be discussed for further education such as estate planning, insurance planning, business planning, and tax planning.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with team members to understand client and prospect goals/objectives
Observe team members in the data gathering process for plan creation
Observe and interact with team members in analyzing client scenarios and developing recommendations
Facilitating team members in the creation preliminary wealth assessments and private wealth plans within eMoney
Help team members prepare for client reviews
Research and assist in financial planning key initiatives i.e. procedures, KPIs, review and update collateral material, etc.
End-of-Summer assessment with wealth planning team and presentation to broader Calamos Wealth Management
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated interest within wealth management and financial planning is preferred
Currently enrolled (rising junior or senior) in a Bachelor’s degree or MBA program with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Independent and original thinker with strong attention to detail
Strong level of personal integrity, with an entrepreneurial spirit
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint and Word, etc.
For Illinois Applicants only: the expected hourly rate for this position is $22/hr.
