Job Description & Position Overview


Our People & Culture (Human Resources) Intern will work primarily in the Global HR department, focusing on the international transfers of our employees. The Global HR department is responsible for supporting Global Assignments and Permanent Relocations of the transferees throughout the TRATON and Volkswagen Group. You will help the team deliver on several projects and gain exposure to our function.


Location: Leslie, Illinois


Responsibilities


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Global HR team in the documentation of the assignment and permanent relocation life cycle

  • Help craft informational material for our assignees and managers

  • Support the global assignments of inpatriates and expatriates as well as permanent relocations to and from Navistar with Sweden and Germany being our focus countries

  • Support the design of our internal, employee-facing intranet site to ensure our Global Mobility branding is clear and information is easy to locate

  • Support initiatives associated with our employee experience including but not limited to creating an Employee Experience & Feedback survey

  • Cooperation with external service providers (Relocation Management Company, Tax Service Provider)


Minimum Requirements


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree


Additional Requirements


  • Must be able to provide housing and transportation for the duration of the internship

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required – For certain positions (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information)

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B or F-1 status)


Desired Skills


  • At least Sophomore standing for undergrad at the time of application

  • Able to work at least 12 weeks (starting the end of May or early June through August)

  • Previous applicable internships

  • Self-starter 

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to problem solve and work independently

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to develop strong relationships across the P&C organization

  • German and Swedish language knowledge is a plus

  • Confident handling and affinity for working with MS Office programs

  • High level of computer skills (Microsoft Applications and Internet)
