PanHellenic Chairman Honored Philhellene of the Year by the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois

Chicago, IL – On October 28, 2017, Robert A. Buhler, PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation Chairman, was presented with the 2017 Philhellene of the Year Award by the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois (HBA). The award, which is the first to be awarded by the HBA to a Philhellene, was presented during the HBA 67th Annual Scholarship Ball. “Mr. Buhler, embodies the true spirit of Hellenism by choice. Having adopted our culture and immersed himself in our community, he is a role model for all Hellenes,” said HBA President Constantine Kanellos. “I am humbled to receive this recognition by the HBA. I am most grateful to the Hellenes who drew me into Hellenism and I encourage our community to reach out and draw other non-Greeks to Hellenism,” said Mr. Buhler.
During the Scholarship Ball the HBA also presented the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. Harry Nichols and the 2017 Lawyer of the Year Award to Ms. Maria Z. Vathis. Scholarships were presented to to law students Dimitra Katsis, Kaleigh McManus, Pauline Panayi, Alexi Spiratos, Amanda Tzivas and George Vinihakis.
The Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois was founded in 1951 and is the largest and oldest Greek American bar association in Illinois.
