10/31/2017

The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation is sad to announce the passing of Helen Tomaras-Astin. Mrs. Tomaras-Astin was not only the sister of our beloved founder Mr. Chris P. Tomaras, but a dedicated supporter of the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation. From the inception of the Foundation, Mrs. Tomaras-Astin was a Premier Benefactor and whole-heartedly embraced her brother’s dream of supporting young Greek-American undergraduate students. Helen Tomaras-Astin was born in Drapetsona, Greece on November 3, 1941. Following her brothers Chris and Mike, she immigrated to the United States settling in New York, NY. Mrs. Tomaras-Astin was a dedicated sister and devote Orthodox Christian. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, godchildren, and friends both in the United States and Greece. Visitation will take place Wednesday, October 31 from 2-5pm and 7-9:30pm at Thomas Dalton Funeral Home, 412 Willis Ave, Williston Park, NY 11596. Friends and family will meet Thursday morning at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 100 Fairway Drive, Port Washington, NY 11050 at 10am.
