Job Description & Position Overview
The Procurement team is an integral part of Navistar operations. Accountable for the sourcing of direct material used in the manufacture of our products as well as indirect goods and services. With this magnitude of fiscal reach, the Procurement team actions are at the very core of Navistar operational success with direct bottom line impact.
Location: Leslie, Illinois
Interns are carefully selected for one of the following Functional Areas (this list can vary based on project):
Direct Material Procurement (Cabin, Chassis or Powertrain)
General Purchasing Services/Goods
Purchasing Program Management
Supply Chain Risk Management
Procurement Processes & Systems
Potential Projects:
Vendor Consolidation Strategy and Tail Spend Analysis
Establish process for Supplier Capacity/Lead time documentation
Assist with data mining information to formulate Category Strategies– i.e.: Liaison with the Engineering teams to get technical details for the strategy
Assisting in CSA negotiation and execution
Optimization of Aftermarket processes and part number rationalization
Creation and maintenance of Procurement dashboards and systems

Applicants should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree primarily in Supply Chain, General Business, or Industrial Engineering
Preferred candidates to graduate in December 2023 or Spring 2024 (opportunity is open to college students who are sophomores at the time of application)
Talented, high-energy problem solvers who are self-starting and comfortable with ambiguity
Have great computer skills - PC proficient (Microsoft Office)
Excellent communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Great attention to detail
Team oriented – willing to work with others inside and outside your department

Minimum Requirements
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Additional Requirements
Must be able to provide housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required – For certain positions (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information)
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
